Description

New Mexico Jeep Tours has exclusive access to a beautiful 20,000 acre private ranch between Albuquerque and Santa Fe. The Southwest Safari tour is your grand introduction to the property as we show you Ancestral Puebloan ruins and petroglyphs, sea life fossils, painted hills, beautiful southwestern vistas, and the ranch's movie set. We see wild horses wandering the beautiful southwestern landscape on almost every tour, so keep your cameras ready!

Tours are personal and private — only your group — and we can customize them to the needs of your party. Your guide drives and provides water and snacks. We meet at The Merc in Placitas for free, or we can pick you up wherever you're staying in Albuquerque or at the Hyatt Tamaya for a small fee. Walking is optional: for those wishing only to ride, we can take you to some amazing places without ever setting foot outside the Jeep. Full rates are on our pricing page.

Things to know

Deposit and cancellation

A $50 deposit secures your reservation. It comes off the total when you pay at the end of the tour, and it is refunded if the tour is cancelled for weather, or by you more than 24 hours before the start time.

Reservations

A minimum of 48 hours notice is suggested to maximize tour availability, but it is not mandatory.

Wild horses

Wild horses may be seen on any tour, but cannot be guaranteed.

What should I wear?

Depending on the season the sun can be intense — we are over a mile high with low humidity. Cover up or slather on the sunscreen. Closed toe and heel shoes keep cactus and rocks off your feet.

Altitude

Our tours run in the high desert at about 6,000 ft, so do not be surprised if you feel winded. That is completely normal, and we move slowly to accommodate the altitude change.

Payment

We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover and cash. Payment is usually taken at the end of the tour.
